Preface

A road trip to Ladakh has always been my dream; in fact, every traveller’s dream. The difference, however, is that never in my wildest imagination did I even think about doing it on a bike until about one year before the trip.

I used to find bikes tiring. During the early days of my riding, even after 40–50km rides, I would end up with a sore butt and an aching back! But it all changed later on!

On April, 17th 2016, I went on my first bike trip. It was a small one, less than 200km in total. It was the first trip on my Royal Enfield, Classic 350. After that trip, even though I was tired, it was way better than I expected. I started loving it. Then in the next couple of months, I did a few other trips ranging from 400 to 800kms. On the last day of the trip, we rode from the morning and visited a waterfall in the evening. We spent some time in the falls and was exhausted when we got out at around 6 pm. After having some food, we hopped back on the bike to head back home. It was about 200kms ride back home. Even when I was dead tired after all the riding and swimming, I enjoyed every bit of that ride back home. After some time, it started to rain, and it only made the ride better. It was during that stretch of riding that I fell in love with it.

Intro

Before I get into the details of the trip, let me introduce ourselves.

Meet Sreenath. He is that crazy guy who brings life into the trip!

Without him, we wouldn’t have had any stories to tell when we came back.

Myself Sankaran. I’m the guy who likes to plan out everything in advance, figure out everything that could go wrong and prepare for it beforehand. I feel that planning for a trip is as enjoyable as the trip itself.

The best part is that Sreenath had what I lacked and vice-versa, and we both knew that very well, which was the main reason for the success of this trip!
